The End - Beijing

Silkriders arrive at the Great Wall, Beijing end and celebrate having travelled its length.

The oldest and youngest members of our group, just happy to be here

Forget the Wall, tourists flock to the bikes

Next day, off an an early morning stroll along the Wall to beat the Hordes (of tourists rather than Mongols this time)

Reception at the NZ Embassy in Beijing and entertainment provided by other Kiwi visitors - the St Peters College Band

Another highlight - visiting the Marco Polo Bridge south of Beijing

Note the worn blocks that have been relaid

500 individually sculptured lions line up on the sides

And an elephant holds the bridge up!

Another Beijing destination - Bryan walks along the wall of Kublai Khan's winter palace in Cmbaluc (as Beijing was called then)

Not much remains of this palace but some earthern humps
