Press Conference in Tehran

Today we held a press conference for Iranian television and newspapers. It was well attended and we covered why we’re doing this crazy exercise, acknowledging that very few have done the whole Silk Road from Constantinople to Xanadu. Besides there’s no way we can claim to have yet and we have formidable barriers yet to confront such as the Kyrgyzstan situation and now the eruptions in Uzbekistan in towns that are right on our route.

We kept to matters Marco and left the highbrow issues of trade and diplomacy to Phil, claiming we were nothing more than motorcyclists.

In reply to a question about our view on Iran’s nuclear plants I pointed out that NZ is nuclear free and GM free and that all our plants are organic. Hope Helen is pleased with my acuity.

Feted in one city, arrested in the next. What other adventures lie around the corner for the “silkies”
Take care as you cross the Black Sand desert.
